Talking About Moving Truck Rentals

Hello, my name is Benjamin. Welcome to my site about moving truck rentals. When I had to move across the country for school, I was tasked with taking the moving truck from my hometown to my new residence. The process was a nightmare initially, largely due to my inexperience and unsure expectations. I wish I would have researched the process more before starting out. I learned a lot on the trip though, and now I want to share it with you. This site will cover all you need to know about securing, using and returning a moving truck rental. Please come back soon.

3 Things You Need To Know When Renting A Storage Unit

Storage unit facilities are a great way to store your belongings when you are looking to free up space around your home. Since they range in size, you can easily choose the right one for your specific needs. However, there are a few things you need to know when it comes time to rent a storage unit to make sure you don't end up choosing something that isn't going to work for you.

What type of units the facility has available to rent.

Depending on what items you are planning to store in the unit, you might be able to get away with a traditional outside storage unit. However, those who are storing electronics, precious collectables or other special items might need to look for a climate controlled unit to keep everything safe. Once you know what items you are going to store away, you can best determine what type of unit you are going to need. If you need a mixture of both, you need to find a facility that can give you multiple units so all of your belongings are in one convenient location.

Whether you need special insurance to cover your belongings or not.

Even though you might think that your belongings are safely locked away inside of the storage unit, that doesn't mean that something couldn't happen to them. Whether it be a flood, theft or other natural disaster, you need to find out whether your renter's or homeowner's insurance policy covers your belongings stored away or if you need to purchase separate insurance to make sure you are covered.

Some insurance policies give you 10% of whatever your belongings are insured for. If you have $50,000 in contents coverage, it will cover $5,000 in storage somewhere else. All policies are different so you need to make sure and ask to prevent losing out on money to replace your belongings.

What special restrictions the facility has.

Each storage unit facility is going to have their own separate rules and restrictions. You need to know what those restrictions are to prevent finding out the hard way. Some prevent you from accessing your belongings after normal business hours, while others prevent you from storing any gas-powered items in your unit. Every facility is different, so you need to make sure what you are agreeing to before signing any paperwork.

By going through the three things above, you can make sure you are on the same page as the storage unit facility and confident you are making the right move. Contact companies like Lake County Storage of Round Lake Heights for availability.
